Sergio, Yanori, Dailyn, Kemsy, Angeli(Baby)
I’m very excited to share this story about a desicion a family in Cot has made. This family lives in lower Cot on the Irazu volcano. Sergio and Yanori have three daughters. I’ve been doing discipleship Bible studies with the family for about 4 months now, once a week. During these Bible studies I noticed that the family had a La Negrita statue on the top shelf of their entertainment center.
I did not say anything about it because it is best to present the Scriptures and let the family decide about these things on their own so that it was their decision, not mine and it is more meaningful for them to come to their own conclusions based on Scripture. It also allows me to be able to continue to have Bible studies in their houses. Usually, if a family has not addressed the problems of having idols in their house after about 5 or 6 months, then I will bring it up to get them to start thinking about it.
Well, a couple of nights ago I was having a Bible study with the family and when I finished I glanced over to where the idol normally sits and to my surprise it was not there. I turned to the parents and asked them where the little black statue of Mary was. They told me that they had put it in the trash can and were now only praying to and believing in Jesus Christ! Needless to say, I was very excited! Especially because I did not have to point out the problem. They simply realized it for themselves through the power of God and His Scripture!
